Labs · twelve pages about the site

The pages about
the pages.

Everything here is about the estate rather than part of it: the roster of what this site serves itself, the list of every page on it, the method the whole thing is built to, and the terms and the privacy note written in plain sentences rather than in the usual fog. Nothing in this room is a property — it is the paperwork, kept where a reader can find it instead of in a footer nobody reads.

Outposts The estate elsewhere Every property standing on its own domain, grouped by shelf and read from the register, so the list moves when one does. In-House Everything the site serves itself Every property labs.llc serves itself, grouped on the menu’s shelves from the register, with a walk that opens each in turn. Portal Four desks, one screen Two or four properties open side by side, each picked from any room, live, with the arrangement kept in your browser. Sitemap Every page, one address each Every page on labs.llc in one grouped list, each title and summary read from the page itself so the list cannot drift. Shipwright How the yard actually works The method behind every property, from build and verify to package, version and record, with the field manual as a PDF. Legal Terms, privacy, and your own risk Terms of use, privacy and copyright in thirteen linkable clauses, each describing what the site’s code actually does. The Build Record Every version, read from the archives Every archived build of labs.llc compared file by file by checksum: what changed in each and where the work went. The Wires Every upstream host, counted Every upstream host the site’s code reads, found by a generator, with the desks that use it and a probe from your browser. Figures Every number, and its arithmetic Every number the site states, beside the command that recomputes it from the shipped data, or a note on why none can. Method Cards How each desk gets its data One card per desk that declares its sources: the hosts its code reads, who asks them, how often it goes back, and the licence. The Audits What we found when we counted The data-quality checks the site has run: what each looked at, what turned up and what it cost, every figure tied to its file. The Reviews, Reviewed Ten sites, a hundred tools The verdicts and flaws of 100 reviews of labs.llc tools against named rivals, from ten sites we also own.

What they share

Not a property, on purpose.

These pages exist so the rest of the estate can be checked rather than taken on trust: what is here, what it is made of, how it was made, and what the terms actually are. The sitemap is generated from the tree, the method page describes the process every zip in the archive went through, and the legal page is written to be read rather than to be survived. The Legal page holds the terms on which the site's tools, desks and games are free to use.

Three more hold the site to its own numbers: Figures, every number the site states beside the command that recomputes it; the Method Cards, one per live desk, naming where its data comes from; and the Audits, the data-quality checks already run, each figure counted out of its file.
