Hantavirus intelligence · the wire, the probe, the lab
Hanta.
Watched properly.
Real-time hantavirus surveillance in one page: a live outbreak wire read from the world’s news queries, the HantaProbe archive that keeps what the sweeps find, a domain lab that asks DNS and the registry directly, and reachability probes across all seven continents and a thousand-site pool.
Everything on this page is measured, fetched live, and honestly labelled — when a feed or a registry does not answer, the page says “no answer” rather than inventing one. No mock stories, no seeded headlines.

The six that matter.
The top of the hantavirus wire, ranked by a relevance computed from the headline, its source and its age — falling back to the curated 2026 dossier, labelled as such, when the wire cannot be reached. One press hands the whole question to Grok itself.

The wire
Live outbreak news, six feeds, one box.
The hantavirus query is the default; the wider health, world and science wires are one chip away, and Hacker News answers for the technical side. Feeds are read through this property’s own proxy — the same whitelisted, redirect-checked instrument the rest of labs.llc reads through.
The wire
Reading…
HantaProbe · v6.5
The surveillance archive.
One press sweeps eighteen hantavirus queries — outbreaks, cases, regions, syndromes — and keeps every new story on a shelf in this browser, up to a thousand articles deep. The shelf survives the tab; the sweep only ever adds what it has not seen. It matches broadly on purpose — hanta, virus, outbreak — so the archive reads wide rather than misses.
The archive
0 of 1000The shelf is read from this browser’s storage — nothing leaves it.

The domain lab
DNS and the registry, asked directly.
Give it any domain: the A records and nameservers come from DNS over HTTPS, the registrar and the dates come from the domain’s own registry — found through the IANA bootstrap, never a third-party aggregator — and a timed opaque fetch says whether anything answers at all.
Five answers, never a guess.

The global probe
Seven continents, one lap.
Five anchor sites per continent, probed from your browser with a timed opaque fetch. The number is time-to-first-answer — a reachability reading, not ICMP — and a site that stays silent for seven seconds is recorded as exactly that.
Or take any single continent below.
The ultra-random sweep.
Twenty-four sites drawn at random from the thousand-site pool, probed at once, answered fastest-first. Every run is a different hand.
The virus
What hantavirus is, plainly.
01
Carried by rodents
Hantaviruses live in rodents — deer mice in the Americas, striped field mice and bank voles across Europe and Asia — and reach people through dust from droppings, urine and nesting material, almost never from another person.
02
Two syndromes
In the Americas it causes hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) — fever and fatigue that can turn to severe breathing failure. In Europe and Asia it causes hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). Both begin like flu, one to eight weeks after exposure.
About
A discovery engine, brought home.
The hanta.llc surveillance platform, brought home to labs.llc and rebuilt on the paper system in both editions. Everything the standalone build could do survives — the live wire, the HantaProbe archive and its eighteen queries, the domain tools, the continent probes and the thousand-site pool — and the seeded placeholder stories did not make the trip: this page reports what it can measure and nothing else.
