What they do not do is the work: restating the invention, mapping its concepts, writing one strategy correctly in each engine’s dialect, reading the records, and keeping an honest note of what was not searched. This desk does that work, keyless, in your browser.

It never says “novel”, “invalid” or “clear to operate”. Every patent number on this page comes from your own input or from a record fetched while you watch.

The sheet

The analyst’s method as a form: the problem, the numbered features, and for each feature the words an examiner might have used. You mark which features are conventional and which may be novel — nothing here guesses it.

    Every query compiled, every engine opened, every search run here with its live count, every record read: stamped as it happens. The list of what this search missed is built from what the log shows was not done. A search is a link: the whole sheet travels in it, and nothing is kept on a server.

        Method

        The sources, and what they do not give.

        Records: PubChem, browser-direct

        The in-page search and every record come from PubChem’s patent collection at the U.S. National Library of Medicine, fetched straight from your browser with no key and no relay: one request at a time, at least two seconds apart, and when PubChem says it is busy the desk waits as long as it is told. The search uses the backend of PubChem’s own website, which is not a documented API. The collection has no claims text.

        Engines: linked, never fetched

        Google Patents, Espacenet, USPTO Patent Public Search, The Lens and WIPO PATENTSCOPE are reached only by deep links that open in your browser. Every operator the compiler writes comes from that engine’s own help text; where an operator could not be confirmed, the nearest confirmed form is used and a trap says so. Each number link carries how far it was checked.

        CPC release 2026.08 (EPO and USPTO) and WIPO’s IPC catchword index (2026.01) are served from this site as a static pack, so the scheme works with no network call to anyone else. Suggestions come only from those texts and say which catchword or title words they matched.

        Keyless, and what a key would add

        Everything on this page works with no key. Two free keys exist that would add legal status and EP claims text (EPO Open Patent Services) and the office’s own patent term adjustment (USPTO Open Data Portal); both would run through this site’s relay so no key reaches a browser. Neither is installed, so the term shown is a labelled estimate.

        Three refusals

        It will not tell you anything is novel, invalid, expired or clear to operate: a search can show what it found, never what does not exist. It will not score risk or “understand” a claim: there is no model here, only the documents’ own words. And it will not invent a number: every patent number shown came from your input or a record fetched this visit.
