Wineries in France

2,943 named entries lie inside the boundary OpenStreetMap draws for France: 2,916 tagged craft=winery and 27 tagged tourism=wine_cellar. This is what the map holds, not a ranking and not a guide.

Each mark is one entry, drawn at its own coordinates over Natural Earth's outlines: a round mark is a winery, a square one a wine cellar. 7 entries lie far from the rest (an overseas territory, a distant island) and are outside this frame; they are in the list. © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Counted from the place each entry carries in its own address tags. 743 of the 2,943 entries carry one; the others are in the list and on the map, but not in this table. A place spelled two ways is counted as two places.

In order of name, as tagged. Each entry links to its OpenStreetMap object and, where one is tagged, to the venue’s own website. Nothing here is rated, described or recommended.

Reading this page

An entry is a place that carries a name and one of two tags in OpenStreetMap: craft=winery, a place where wine is made, or tourism=wine_cellar, a cellar that can be visited. Where the map holds the same place twice, as a point and as a building outline with the same name, the two are one entry here. Wine shops are a different tag and are not in this register.

The count for France is a count of what volunteers have mapped, not of what exists. Where few people map, few wineries appear. An entry may have closed since it was mapped, and a new one may not be mapped yet. Addresses, websites, phone numbers and hours are shown as tagged and only where tagged.

To correct an entry, follow its OpenStreetMap link and edit it there; if the register is harvested again, the change comes with it. The about page gives the queries, the dates and the limits.
