In the 2010s Western Easter ran from March 27 (2016) to April 24 (2011); 2012’s April 8 is the sixth-earliest of the ten. Across the twenty-first century (2001–2100) Western Easter falls on April 8 in 3 years, and the Western and Orthodox Easters share a Sunday in 31 years.

From 1900 to 2100 Orthodox Easter falls on an earlier Gregorian date in 57 years and on a later one in 136 years; it falls on the same date in 1906, 1917, 1928, 1990, 2001, 2085, 2096.

The two algorithms, worked for 2012

Western: the Anonymous Gregorian algorithm
a=17 b=20 c=12 d=5 e=0 f=1 g=6 h=17 i=3 k=0 l=0 m=0
h + l − 7m + 114 = 131, and 131 ÷ 31 = 4 remainder 7: month 4, day 7 + 1. April 8
Orthodox: Meeus’s Julian algorithm
a=0 b=3 c=17 d=8 e=3
d + e + 114 = 125, and 125 ÷ 31 = 4 remainder 1: Julian April 2. Plus 13 days: April 15
