Scope: a standard domestic LLC at standard processing speed, filed online where the online and paper fees differ. The figure shown is the one the cited page states; an add-on or a paper fee that the page also states is in the note under the figure, and nothing is computed from a note.
Alabama LLC filing fee
$200 to file the Certificate of Formation
Note from the reading The Secretary of State's form (dated 03/2026 in its URL) asks for a $200.00 processing fee and says the Secretary of State pays $100.00 of it to the county of the initial registered agent. The LLC page also lists 'Secretary of State: $200.00'. A Certificate of Name Reservation must be obtained first and attached; the fee schedule (revised August 23, 2023) lists Name Reservations at $25.00. The form mentions card convenience fees of 3% of the total charge plus $2.00.
“DOMESTIC LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANIES Certificate of Formation $200.00”
Alabama LLC periodic report and due date
No annual report required
The page read says an LLC files no annual or periodic report in Alabama. Its words are quoted below.
Note from the reading The Department of Revenue notice says that from January 1, 2024 the Secretary of State annual report is filed only by domestic and foreign for-profit corporations and professional corporations; 'These' in the quote refers to those corporations. LLCs are among the 'other entities'.
“These will be the only entities required to file an Annual Report. Annual Reports from other entities will NOT be accepted.”
Alabama LLC annual tax or franchise tax
By rule Business Privilege Tax. Not one amount: the rule below says who pays and how much
The rule Based on net worth in Alabama: the rate runs from $0.25 to $1.75 per $1,000 of net worth, the rate bracket set by the entity's federal taxable income apportioned to Alabama. The Department of Revenue states a full exemption when the tax due is $100 or less (taxable years beginning after December 31, 2023), and no return is required in that case.
Note from the reading due_month_day is for a calendar-year entity only. Due date read at https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/faqs/when-is-the-alabama-business-privilege-tax-return-due/ : 'For Limited Liability Entities, the Alabama business privilege tax return is due no later than two and a half months after the beginning of the taxpayer's taxable year.' Exemption read at https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/notice-important-changes-to-the-2024-business-privilege-tax-filing-requirements/ : 'there is a full exemption from the business privilege tax on tax due of $100 or less'. The tax-types page still describes a $100 minimum reduced to $50 for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2022.

The researcher's notes
Written by the researcher who read the pages, unedited. Field names such as due_kind are the names in this site's data file.
The Secretary of State fee schedule was last revised August 23, 2023 and still lists an 'Annual Report - Business only (collected by ADOR for SOS)' at $10.00; the Department of Revenue notice read today says only for-profit and professional corporations file it from 2024, so report.required is false for an LLC. The Business Privilege Tax quote is verbatim including the page's typo ('rages'). Two Department of Revenue pages differ on the minimum: https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/tax-types/business-privilege-tax/ describes the $100 minimum reduced to $50, while https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/notice-important-changes-to-the-2024-business-privilege-tax-filing-requirements/ states a full exemption at $100 or less for years beginning after December 31, 2023 (the later rule).
